Click the File Types tab. Under for these file types type the file extensions for the file types that you want PortfolioWall to open using an alternate application. For example, to use PortfolioWall Viewer to open 3D models, type ma, mb, wire, dxf, iges, igs. Under Override default application startup with click the Browse button and use the file browser to choose the application that you want PortfolioWall to use to open files with the above extensions. For example, to use the PortfolioWall Viewer to open 3D models, choose C:\Program Files\AliasWavefront\PortfolioWall Viewer 1.5\bin\pwviewer.exe. Click OK. To select the default application for opening a certain document type Choose Start > Programs > Windows NT Explorer to open Windows Explorer. Choose View > Options to open the Options window. Click the File Types tab. Under Registered file types, click the file type you want to specify the application for. Click Edit to open the Edit File Type window. Under Actions click Open. Click Edit to open the Editing action for type window. Under Application used to perform action type the path to the default application that you want to use to open files with the above extensions. Selecting a non-default application for opening certain document types By default when you use PortfolioWall to open a document in another application, PortfolioWall opens the document in the default application for that document type (if it is installed). (Document types and default applications are defined in Windows Explorer.) You can customize PortfolioWall so that it opens certain document types using an alternate application. For example, by default PortfolioWall opens 3D models (having certain extensions) in PortfolioWall Viewer, and not in the default application for the file type (for example, Maya, StudioTools).
